In his letter, Althorp when referring to 'home' speaks assumedly of the Dallington House. However, after dying childless in 1910, John Spencer, 6th Earl of Spencer, passed the grand property Althorp to 6th Earl Spencer (Charles Robert/Viscount Althorp), who served also as Lord Chamberlain from 1905 to 1912 in the Liberal administrations headed by Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman and H. H. Asquith. Dallington [Hall] became Margaret Spencer Home of Rest, now divided into apartments.
