However, after dying childless in 1910, John Spencer, 6th Earl of Spencer, passed the grand property Althorp to 6th Earl Spencer (Charles Robert/Viscount Althorp), who served also as Lord Chamberlain from 1905 to 1912 in the Liberal administrations headed by Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman and H.
