Exceptional full English green morocco binding signed by Ch. De Samblanx, spine with five raised bands highlighted with gilt fillets, with author, title, city, and date stamped in gold, compartments bordered with triple gilt fillets. Covers decorated with a complex geometric frame of gilt fillets, executed with remarkable precision, consisting of multiple parallel fillets following the contours of the covers and converging to form Art Deco-inspired interlacing and scroll motifs evoking stylized leaves that cross and intertwine, set with small gilt dots, providing the piece with visual harmony while softening the austerity of the straight lines. This juxtaposition between the rigidity of the fillets and the flexibility of the arabesques creates a subtle and refined visual balance. Double gilt fillet along the edges, six-fold gilt fillets framing the inside covers, all edges gilded and polished with care, with marbled inner paper guards in harmonious tones, perfectly complementing the color of the morocco. Ex-libris engraved by Decaris for "MC" depicting a man in contemplation with books, observing a figure at a crossroads leading either to a factory or a church. In the lower right corner, a small sculpture sits on a shelf or ledge, representing a stylized figure, perhaps an allegory or a mythological figure, adding an element of mystery and symbolic depth to the piece. The use of fine lines and dense hatching to create shading and textures reflects meticulous engraving technique, giving this ex-libris a classic and elegant aesthetic, mirroring the image of the bibliophile or intellectual. Enclosed: a let.
