This is a very nice book in very good shape with minor corner wear on dark blue covers, Good hinges, clean and unmarked, Inside front cover is a one page letter with imprint on top of stationary with latin quotation Recte et Suaviter (Resolutely in action, Gentle in manner or something to that effect), The letter is to Fred Rhodes from Charles King in 1913 giving permission to Rhodes to use one of his stories, Full page letter in authors hand and nicely signed. On another front page of the book is presented to F. M. Rhodes from S. k. Webb at christmas 1891, a loose note is included on small card about the civil war diaries of Elisha Hunt Rhodes. The note reads "Thank you. Frederick Rhodes was my great grandfather and samuel Webb on of my great uncles. My other great grandfather was Elisha Hunt Rhodes. Hope you enjoy reading the book." It is signed Robert Hunt Rhodes and his address is printed on the card below. A really unique item with many connections.
