About this Item
Signed and numbered on colophon page. 13/20 of the Deluxe Edition, Ausgabe A, with three additional original glossy photographic prints, signed and numbered. Total edition of 100 copies, 90 of them numbered in Arabic numerals, ten copies for artists and publisher in Roman numerals. Unpaginated. Original designed yellow and blue paper-covered boards with blue and yellow lettering on cover, blue on spine; housed in light gray paper-covered slipcase. The color photographic prints, laid in their original gray portfolio, depicting an apartment building, a plastic cup, and a lobby ashtray. Frontispiece b/w photograph. The work represents a travel in time reflecting Frank Müller's childhood and adolescence in East Germany depicting dull classrooms, gyms, and cafeterias paired with banal objects like lunch boxes, cutlery, etc. The silkscreen printing by Hartmut Tauer creates a peculiar and alienating effect. These extraordinary reproductions of color and b/w white photographs also include architecture, e.g. a four-fold leporallo color photograph of a large East German arpartment building, interiors, landscapes, portraits, group photos, and documents such as film strips and manuscripts presented in a contemporary layout. Concept, pictorial research and original photographs by Frank Müller. Text in German. Slipcase, binding and interior in fine condition. Seller Inventory # 37632
