Illustrated with 100 photographs. First edition, second printing. Signed by seven Yankees on the front and rear free endpapers, including Mickey Mantle ("Best Wishes, Mickey Mantle"), Bill Skowron, Jake Gibbs, Whitey Ford, Mike Ferraro, Ralph Houk, and Enos Slaughter. Publisher's navy cloth-backed red paper-covered boards, with Yankees logo in gilt to front board, spine lettered in gilt; in its original red dust jacket designed by Robert Aulicino, printed in yellow, white, blue, and black. About fine book, with a hint of sunning to foot of spine, and slightly bumped corners; near fine unclipped dust jacket, with some wear to head of spine including a one-inch small closed tear, minimal edgewear, small remnant of a price sticker and some residue from removed sticker to front panel, and lightly nicked corners. With a Letter of Provenance, signed by Whitey Ford, certifying that the book originates directly from his personal collection. Overall, a fantastic copy, with bold signatures. In this book, four different sportswriters cover four distinct and successful eras of the most decorated team in MLB history, the New York Yankees. Mickey Mantle (1931-1995) won three MVP awards (1956, 1957, 1962), the Triple Crown in 1956, and helped power the Yankees to seven World Series titles. He hit 54 home runs in 1961, battling back and forth with his teammate Roger Maris for most of the year (Maris ended the season with 61 home runs, breaking Babe Ruth's single season record). Mantle was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1974 and was selected for the prestigious All-Century Team in 1999. Whitey Ford played all 16 seasons of his MLB career with the Yankees (1950, 1953-1967) during which time the team was incredibly dominant, winning six World Series. Ford was selected as an all-star ten times and holds numerous Yankees records, including career wins, shutouts, and games started. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame alongside Mickey Mantle in 1974. Nicknamed "Country" because of his North Carolina farming roots, Enos Slaughter won four World Series, two apiece with the St. Louis Cardinals (1942, 1946) and the New York Yankees (1956, 1958), and was a 10-time All-Star. In the 1946 World Series against the Boston Red Sox, Slaughter scored the winning run in a gutsy play known as the "Mad Dash." This play was ranked #10 in Sporting News' Baseball's 25 Greatest Moments (1999).…
