About this Item
Fine condition in similar dust jacket. Tall 8vo., imitation black leather in dust jacket; 355 pages First Edition, first printing. Signed presentation from Friedman on the front endpaper: "For Jonathan- A pleasure working with you. Hope you enjoy. All best, Dave Friedman. Anniston, 12/97." Apparently one of Friedman's personal copies, with his personal blind stamp on the same page. Also with an unsigned note on his personal stationery giving directions to his Ramada hotel suite. Friedman [1923-2011] was a regional marketing man for Paramount Pictures and sensed the money in independent distributing. He started his own company in the 1950s, which mainly produced so-called nudie-cutie films that came close to the legal limits for pornography at the time. This trend was followed by the sexploitation and "roughie" genres, depicting simulated sex with a more violent edge, often horror- or crime-related. Friedman went on to produce in the 1963 film "'Blood Feast," an American exploitation film often considered the first "gore" or "splatter" film. Books signed by Friedman are uncommon.
