Add to basketPublished by Doubleday, Doran & Co in 1944. A First Edition. Inscribed by the authors and illustrators Ingri and Edgar Parin D'Aulaire. Size: 31.5 x 23 cms. Page number: 34. Hardcover. Coloured boards and dust jacket. Coloured and black and white images on every page. set in Norway Wings For Per tells the tale of a boy's desire to fly. He achieves this goal when Norway is invaded by enemy forces and he, now a young man, leaves for America where he joins the air force and becomes the pilot of a fighter plane. The book is produced under wartime conditions but the quality of the paper and the printing is of a high standard. The pictures in the book are produced by drawing the colour and black and white illustrations directly on stone. This gives them their extraordinary colour and appearance. Condition: Very Good. The cover is only a little worn at the corners. There are some small brown marks on the back board (also on the jacket) and two inky spots on the first two pages. The pages are otherwise, but for occasional marks of little significance, clean. The binding is very slightly loose. The jacket is quite torn and missing parts at the corner, the spine and the base of the back in particular. I have made some repairs from the reverse to some tears using archival tape. The back of the jacket is slightly wrinkled.
