First printing of the First Edition. Hardcover in dustjacket, pp. 176, illustrated by Henry Ford. Dedicated at the flyleaf to the original owner by Richmal Crompton, “with all good wishes from” - a characteristically warm presentation inscription. Condition: Well-read but in reasonable order. Original green cloth gilt. Upper cover bowing slightly; coloured top edge faded; faint spotting to fore-edge; edges slightly marked/soiled; very occasional marginal spots internally. Dustjacket unclipped and fairly bright; some minor staining to the rear panel margins; shelf-worn at extremities; minor splitting to upper corners but no substantial loss. Overall a nice jacket. Good/Very Good.
