Hopper, who began as an actress in the silent film era, rose to greater fame as a powerful gossip columnist with a massive readership. The book provides revealing personal anecdotes and insights into the private and public lives of Hollywood's most famous stars?including Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, and Charlie Chaplin?while reflecting on the allure, scandals, and challenges of celebrity life. Hopper also details her legendary feud with rival columnist Louella Parsons and shares her unique perspective on the rise and transformation of Hollywood from its studio system origins through its more tumultuous later years. The memoir offers an accessible, behind-the-scenes look at movie stars, industry intrigue, and the nature of fame itself during one of Hollywood?s most fascinating periods.
