The team was nicknamed the "Whiz Kids" because of their exceptional youth, the average player being just 26 years old. Co-author Robin Roberts is a Hall of Fame pitcher who was one of the "Whiz Kids," and won the crucial game against the Dodgers. The book combines Roberts' personal anecdotes with C. Paul Rogers' interviews of other players associated with the run.
