Account of the post-Hurricane Carla retrieval & rehabilitation of over 450,000 empty oil drums belonging to the US Army scattered from Harbur Terminal Company's facility in Texas City, across the bay from Galveston (where Dan Rather made his bones during the storm). One wonders if pictures of the stacks of drums inspired Christo's 'barrel' projects, which began shortly after the storm. INSCRIBED by [Colonel] Freeman W. Burford on the free endsheet. Burford was head of Harbur Terminal at the time, and had been in charge of oil distribution for the US army in France in World War Two. Hardcover, full maroon cloth, gilt titling. Light general wear, some foxing; jacket a bit rubbed, edgeworn with some chipping, tanning, creasing. Text clean; [6], iii, blank, 116 pages; b/w photos, maps.
