Add to basket1903. First edition. 317pp. plus a 2 page publisher's catalogue. Albert Kinross (1870-1929) was an English journalist, magazine editor and writer. He worked and published in many of the most popular periodicals of his day including 'London Outlook' and the 'London Morning Post', and contributed articles to 'Century', 'Harper's Magazine', 'The Pall Mall Magazine' and 'The Windsor Magazine'. He was a special correspondent in Russia during the Russo-Japanese War in 1905-06, and in 1907 he gave up journalism and became a full-time novelist. His novels are very hard to find in any condition. 'The Way Back' is one of his earlier works. It is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board and spine. The copy for sale is besty regarded as being a reading copy as the boards have shelf wear with some stains and soiling. The corners are bumped with wear and a little damage to the cloth around the corner tips. The spine is worn with damage at both ends and nearly detached down the length of the rear spine edge. The book is secure with some of the signatures feeling loose. The pages are clean apart from a few small stains and marks from finger smudges etc. The endpapers are split down the spine gutter with the mull showing through and the rear free endpaper is missing. A W.H. Smith Subscription Library label is pasted onto the front fixed endpaper. This copy did belong the author who has written "Ex libris Albert Kinross, Hole Farm, Edenbridge, Kent." on the front free endpaper and he has signed the last page of text (page 317) "Albert Kinross".
