First edition. 12mo. Original red cloth with titles stamped in gilt on the front cover, 80 pp., plates. Very scarce with very few copies printed. Adams 150 # 35 says, "The author tames down the McCanles-Hickok affair somewhat. While some writers have claimed the fight was the result of McCandles' horse stealing and others have stated that he was trying to collect a debt, this author says the trouble started over the woman Kate Shull.Scarce." Six Guns 501 says "Only a few of these little books were printed." Some soiling and light edgewear. Very good copy. From the library of author and Indian Wars authority, John M. Carroll, with his pictorial, printed bookplate, boldly signed, John M. Carroll.
