Personal copy of D.R. Wagner, who signs the work at title page, having been given this as a gift by "Nancy." D.R. Wagner is a noted needlepoint tapestries artist and who works in poetry, music, and the visual arts, one of the first Americans to write "concrete" poetry. The Schneider Museum of Art concluded in 1994 of the exhibition of his work they mounted there that "His work explores the borders between written and spoken language, signs and symbols, and the visual world of painting. For over two decades Wagner has been producing labor intensive, intricate embroideries that transpose the narrative text or voice of the poet into multi-colored textile images. His use of the medium is ironic." Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover, clean, if toned, minimal rubbing to extremities. Bound in brown cloth, with gilt lettering and design to front cover and spine. Some rubbing along extremities. Store description
Member, I.O.B.A. (the Independent On-line Booksellers Association) "Structure" versus "Agency." A phrase that has characterized much social-scientific debate. Does “structure” (the routinized regulations of kinship and marriage, work and reproduction, of race, class and gender) determine history, or is it the “agency” of fully conscious, independently acting, individuals? Structure, Verses, Agency Books isn’t going to solve the debate, but we’ll offer you lots of all three. Versus to verses—we specialize in fine, rare and collectible books, from the fine arts to the social sciences, from poetry to photography, from literature and ethnography to fine bindings and Americana. Structure, Verses, Agency Books…

Terms of sale
I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and
every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition
insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers,
get taken to and from book fairs, and so on. If for some reason you don't
like your purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to
you at all, you might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the
estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that
you've ordered, please contact me or use the "Ask bookseller a question"
link to contact me and I'll respond within two business days.
