The author's third novel, and third mystery featuring detective Mike Hammer. Hint of sunning to spine, light wear to heel and lower board edges; contents clean; Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $2.50), gently spine-sunned, showing moderate shelfwear, with several tiny nicks, small tears, and attendant creases; Very Good.Spillane's third novel featuring tough-as-nails private investigator Mike Hammer. He wakes up in a room with the body of an old friend of his from World War II, who has apparently killed himself with Hammer's gun. After being questioned by police and having his P.I. license revoked by the D.A., Hammer does not believe his friend took his own life and begins to investigate.
