Uncle Rudolf, Paul Bailey, 4th Estate, 2002, Signed First Edition, First Impression A collector of numerous awards and shortlisted twice for the Booker Prize, Paul Bailey passed away in October 2024. At the age of seventy, Andrew Peters looks back across the years to remember life with his doting Uncle Rudolf, who rescued him from fascist Romania as a child. Vivid, often hilarious, stories of Rudolf’s brilliant but blighted singing career are intertwined with the slow unfolding of secrets that have shadowed Andrew’s otherwise happy life. Told in matchless prose, this deeply moving novel captures a vanished epoch with exquisite tact and restraint. The title page has been signed by the author with no personal dedication. In fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from marks, tears and inscriptions. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in fine condition with no issues. Will be dispatched wrapped carefully in bubblewrap and in a cardboard box.…
