First American edition, first printing. Signed by Milan Kundera on the title page. [vi], 314 pp. Bound in publisher's black paper boards over tan buckram cloth with spine lettered in black. Near Fine with slight edge wear, rear bottom corner bumped and slight perfume scent to contents. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light edge wear, oval metallic silver sticker "Autographed Copy" on rear panel, and several tape repairs to verso. A great, signed copy of the Czech author's best-known work which was later adapted into the 1988 film directed by Philip Kaufman starring Juliette Binoche and Daniel Day-Lewis.
