1st edition, 1934. SIGNED by author on half title page. A Good+ copy. 8vo., 267 pp., bound in publishers green cloth with titles in gilt on spine. Some fading and wear to cloth at edges. Spine is tanned. Boards lightly soiled. Paper is appropriately age-toned, appears unmarked. A SCARCE title. Tennessee was the last state to secede from the Union and the first of the seceding states to be restored to its constitutional relations with the Union. In large measure the explanation for this is to be found in the political and intellectual background of the state and in the character of its economic and industrial resources. This study discusses this and other aspects of Tennessee's turbulent history during the period from 1860 to 1869. - the publisher.
