123 pages on stronger untrimmed vat-paper. - Publisher's gilt-titled brown halfcloth binding with olive red-and-blue marbled panels and ornamental dustjacket titled in red and black; 8vo.(ca. 20 x 12 cm). *** FIRST EDITION OF THE AUTHOR'S ONLY NOVEL, clothbound original with dustjacket; almost calligraphically INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY NICHOLS AT FRONT FLY LEAF ''To the Comptesse Jean. . . de Pange / with best wishes / . . . / November 29th 1935'' (most likely Pauline Laure Marie de Broglie, Countess of Pange, s.a., married to Jean de Pange, a prominent French historian and writer). - LOOSELY INSERTED IS A DINA4+ SHEET with the printed poem 'Blessed be Love' by Nichols in the center, boldly inscribed below ''Set to music by / Ellen Coleman / Oct 4th 1937''(apparently by the composer herself) and with 2 stamps of the period at top ('. . .[slightly faded] Ltd. Music Printers, 10 Sept 1937' and 'PROOF'). --- DUSTJACKET CAREFULLY WRAPPED IN LOOSE PROFESSIONAL MYLAR COVER with few short and shorter tears at ends of joints and one at frontpanl top right as well as slightly rubbed at bottom of spine and somewhat creased at top of spine; minimally sunned at spine too; THE BOOK ITSELF IN BEST CONDITION.
