Item description from seller

Stated First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author to the founder (1933) and original publisher of Kirkus Reviews, Virginia Kirkus. The signed inscription is on the half-title page. It reads simply 'For Virginia Kirkus, Louis Adamic.' Across the way there is a bookplate with the name Glick affixed to the blank verso of the front end paper. Kirkus married Frank Glick in 1936. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are quite clean, one whitish spot on the spine. The gilt lettering on the spine is still fairly bright. There is the usual crinkling at the spine ends. The bottom one also has a tiny tear. The cover edges are in very good shape, no rubbing. The cover corners look good as well. The top front one does have a tiny spot of rub-through. There's also a small crease above the front bottom corner. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. There is a small chip of paper loss at the bottom one. That has created a small loss above the bottom corners of the first 50 pages, far from the print. The pages are otherwise in very good shape. They are exceptionally clean. I haven't found any instances of soiling. I also haven't found any instances of creasing. There is a small scuff on the signed half-title page. There are no markings in the book. The only attachment is the aforementioned bookplate. The only writing is the aforementioned signed inscription by the author. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. I have always had it in a fitted protective cover. There is a significant loss at the top edge of the spine which extends to part of the top edge of the rear. There's also a loss at the bottom edge of the spine, and a couple of smaller ones off the edges, all of which is there to see in the photos. The flaps are in decent condition, one very small thin tear off the top edge of the front flap. All four corners have tucking-in clips, but the price is present and unaffected. 'Two-Way Passage provides a political and social commentary. In it the author suggested that naturalized Americans and second-generation immigrants return to their European homelands to aid in post-war reconstruction and political organization after World War II.'.…

Store description

Many of the books I will be selling can accurately be described as ranging from somewhat rare to very rare. In some cases there won't be another copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. There doesn't seem much point, for you or me, in offering something that so many others are already offering. Subject matter will range very widely, creating the possibility for people with very different interests to find something that excites them. As regards pricing, my primary goal is to sell the book. Most often I would expect my book to be the least expensive option on the Internet taking into account an appropriate comparison(what is the condition, is the dust jacket present, is the book signed, is it a first printing, etc.). More important than selling the book I want to make sure that you know, as much as is possible, exactly what you are getting. To that end, you'll notice that my descriptions of condition tend to be lengthy, and that there will always be photographs to help you draw your own conclusions. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about a given book. As regards international shipping, the first class or standard rates I charge are based on a package weight between 2 and 3 pounds. If the book is on the thin side there is a possibility that I can securely pack it up under 2 pounds in weight. If so, the shipping price will drop by around $11.00 or $12.00 to $26.00-27.00. Canada, which is less expensive drops to $18.00. You can contact me before purchasing a book for an estimate on the shipping cost. If you buy the book and it weighs in below 2 pounds you'll get a Reduced Shipping message and amount with the invoice and you'll see the lowered final cost before you make your payment.…
