NY: Dutton, 1968. SIGNED. 1st/1st. NF/VG. Stated First Edition (American) with no other printings listed. Signed by Lawrence Durrell on the front free endpaper. The book is tight and square with good corners, unmarred blue boards, and intact gilt titles to the spine. The textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate, or marks and not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. The dust jacket front flap is clipped but the original price is intact ($6.95). Surface wear on the spine, front panel, and edges (see photos). Several very small tears at the base of the back panel. 359 pages. Protected in a Brodart Mylar cover. The first Durrell novel after The Alexandria Quartet, to be followed, a year later, by its sequel, Nunquam, the two to become entitled, The Revolt of Aphrodite. Seller Inventory # 5116
