About this Item
First edition. Signed by Christopher Lasch on the front free endpaper, inscribed "Congratulations and best wishes" to the winner of The Dexter Perkins Prize in History at Wilson Magnet High School in 1992, whose name is written on the bookplate facing the author inscription. 591 pp. Bound in publisher's quarter cloth with gilt spine lettering. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket, lightly rubbed and worn at edges, spine a bit sunned.A very rare signature from American historian Christopher Lasch, who didn't often sign books before his death at age 61 in 1994. He is best known for the 1979 work The Culture of Narcissism. This book was his last, a still-relevant critique of progressivism and a defense of the populist tradition in America.
