Other sources -local newspapers, other history books, Burton and other county directories of the day ? I used mainly to prove what those people had to say? - from the author?s foreword. Burton-upon-Trent had 50,000 people at this time ? one thousandth of the population of Britain, hence ?one in a thousand?. The title-page bears the inscription ?to Les / with best wishes / M Rowe?. Soft covers, background colour to spine faded, light creases to covers, otherwise a very good copy, close to near fine.
