Add to basketSigned First Edition, First Printing One of very ONLY TWO HUNDRED signed trade first editions in existence from the original first signing event held Edinburgh Library! And one of the very very few signed on that day that were signed without a dedication, and flat signed â J.K. ROWLINGâ ! On publication, J.K. Rowling held a non publicized event at an Edinburgh Library. The children invited to the event at the National Library of Scotland, won a small lottery of 200, with 10 local schools being given the opportunity to bring up to 20 pupils each, aged eight to 11. Unlike other book signings, this specific and unique event included the author, J.K. Rowling, reading passages from her new book, at Edinburghâ s Parliament Hall. This ONE event launched the bookÂThe Tales of Beedle The Bard. Signed by Rowling with her name only,Ââ J.K. Rowlingâ , which was usually how she signed the books for the staff who attended the function. Includes the requisite official hologram from that event. Fine condition with a crisp tight binding! The Tales featured in the seventh and final Harry Potter book. It was a volume of wizarding fairy tales left to Hermione Granger by Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore and it played a crucial role in helping Harry to defeat Lord Voldemort.Known to fans as the book which Albus Dumbledore left to Hermione Granger in Rowlingâ s final Potter novel, The Tales of Beedle the Bard contains clues which helped Harry Potter in his mission to destroy Lord Voldemort. Only one of its five stories, The Tale of the Three Brothers, was recounted in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: the remaining four, The Fountain of Fair Fortune, The Warlockâ s Hairy Heart, The Wizard and the Hopping Pot and Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump, have not been seen before. The book has fine pictorial boards with no dust jacket as issued. The boards have their nice original sheen, with the typical light toning to the boards. The binding is very tight and square and still snaps shut when opened. The end papers are clean, bright and flat with no marks, no inscriptions, no book plates and no bookstore stamps. The internal pages are clean, bright and flat, the pages are crisp with no stains, no writing, no handling marks and no bent pages. Stunning beautiful book appearing as unread! Signed by Rowling with her name onlyÂâ J.K. Rowlingâ , which was usually how she signed the books for the staff who attended the function. Includes the requisite official hologram from that event.ÂFINE condition with a crisp tight binding! J.K. Rowling waived her royalties for the book, with net proceeds from the sale to go to the charity she co-founded, The Childrenâ s High Level Group, which works with vulnerable children in eastern Europe. â Hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children in eastern Europe are living in appalling conditions in large, residential institutions,â she said. â Contrary to popular belief, fewer than 4% of them are orphans, but are in care because they are considered disabled or their families are poor or from ethnic minorities. The charity is publishing The Tales of Beedle the Bard to raise money to fund our work in helping these children out of institutions and in to loving families or community care homes. â I hope that The Tales of Beedle the Bard will not only be a welcome present to Harry Potter fans, but an opportunity to give these abandoned children a voice. It will encourage young people across the world to think about those who are less fortunate and help change many young lives for the better.â A very handsome, exceedingly scarce fine example, ONE OF ONLY TWO HUNDRED SIGNED. Presenting very well with the crisp, clean interior. ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. PLEASE SEE OUR STORE FOR MORE CHILDREN'S TITLES.
