Signed first edition, a presentation copy to friends of Jane and Robert Jacobs that was warmly inscribed and dated within the year of publication. "Dear Dave and Lishe, at long last, look what's here. I do hope you'll enjoy it. And Bob and I hope you're well settled in and flourishing on that delightfully named Meetinghouse Road. Much love, Jane Jacobs, Toronto March 1993." Jacobs is the influential author of The Death and Life of American Cities, and this book is "a brilliant and original study of the ethical basis of public life" (publisher's description). Near fine copy in a very good unclipped dust jacket with some edgewear, soiling, creasing and several small tears. Wrapped in archival mylar. A wonderful gift for Jane Jacobs' devotees with its unique inscription providing a glimpse of her later life in Toronto.
