The author has inscribe and dated this volume on the title page. Given the inscription, it appears the individual to whom this was inscribed may have also been recognized on in the photographer's Preface. The gray cloth boards with white lettering on the spine show some wear at the spine ends and tips. The 35 images in this unpaginated volume are bright and clean, however, there may be some slight soiling to several of the pages margins. At the back of the book the photographer gives a brief description of most of the images presented.

Although his work shares the recursive wit of Reneacute; Magritte an M. C. Escher, Mutter never relies simply upon ironic effects. With precision and authority his art explores the ideals and mythologies of our culture, history, language, and art, both lamenting and celebrating contemporary civilization.
