The first ediiton, published by Houghton Mifflin in 1952. The author's first collection of short stories. This copy has been inscribed ' love Dawn ' and with ' Publication June 24th ' to lower portion of page in Powell's hand. One of four books which presumably were inscribed by Powell to the same person over a twelve year period. Each inscribed with love, and the first referring to the recipient as Mother. A very good copy of the book with a touch of rubbing to the spine ends and the upper corners pushed just a little. Dust jacket very good with a little wear to the edges and a large triangular chip to the base of the rear panel.
