Item description from seller

Diagram and figures; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 189 pages; 8vo (24 cm). [8], xii, 9—189, [1] pp. , tipped-in photographic portrait frontispiece. Final page with publisher’s advertisement. Text begins at p. 9, as issued. Numerous mystical, astrological, and alchemical figures and diagrams in the text. Without the errata slip found tipped onto p. Iii in some copies. FIRST EDITION. SIGNED by Hazelrigg beneath his mounted photographic portrait frontispiece: “Very Sincerely, John Hazelrigg, ” with an ink flourish. An uncommon early work of American Hermetic and astrological literature by the president of the American Academy of Astrologians. Drawing on astrology, Hermetic philosophy, Christian mysticism, and esoteric symbolism, Hazelrigg treats cosmic involution, the relation between the archetypal and manifest worlds, sidereal correspondences, the Christ allegory, and spiritual regeneration. The first edition, with the Hermetic Publishing Company imprint. Later reproduced in facsimile, including a Llewellyn reprint whose copies are sometimes misdescribed as the 1916 first; original copies are scarce. Original light olive-green ribbed cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, with “1916” stamped at foot. Soundly bound, with light shelf rubbing to the cloth, slight wear to spine ends and corners, and a few small surface marks. Ex-Dickinson College Library copy, with painted call number on lower spine, blindstamps on title and one other leaf, and inked five-digit accession number at foot of p. Iii. Pencilled accession note in the gutter of the same leaf recording the book as given “In memory of Helen Earle Gilbert, ” evidently Helen Gilbert Sellers (1903—1951) , wife of Charles Coleman Sellers, Librarian of Dickinson College. Contents otherwise clean and well preserved. A very good copy, ex-library.; Signed by Author. …
