51 pages. Soft covers. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. A historical monograph that explores the overlooked history of double-barreled side-by-side rifles produced by the Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut. The book focuses on the documentation of these ultra-rare firearms. The book acts as a technical and historical rescue mission for a forgotten chapter of American firearms history. While Colt gained worldwide fame for its revolvers and repeating long guns, the factory briefly ventured into premium, European-style side-by-side double rifles during the late 19th century. Mills tracks down the development, manufacturing details, and surviving examples of these firearms, correcting previous historical texts that entirely overlooked Colt's double-gun production. The Context of Colt's Double Guns: Mills documents how Colt utilized the frame designs from its high-end Model 1878 hammered double-barrel shotgun and its later Model 1883 hammerless shotgun to build a very limited number of double-barreled rifles. Very Scarce. The original owner's neat library label is on the inside front cover. In the same location is the previous owner's neat sigature and date. There is light age toning and soiling to the covers. There is light creasing to the front edge of the front cover and the first page. The inside is clean and the binding is solid. Overall this is a Very Good solid copy at a reasonable price.…
