First edition, fifth printing of Will Hodgkinson's acclaimed portrait of the singular British musician Lawrence, frontman and creative force behind Felt, Denim, Go-Kart Mozart, and Mozart Estate. Published in London by Nine Eight Books in 2024. The copyright-page number line 5 7 9 10 8 6 identifies this copy as the fifth printing of the first edition. Most importantly, this copy is signed directly on the title page by both Will Hodgkinson and Lawrence — Hodgkinson in black marker and Lawrence prominently in blue. The original SIGNED COPY jacket sticker and Rough Trade retail label have also been retained. Street-Level Superstar follows Hodgkinson through a year spent with one of British independent music's most idiosyncratic figures, chronicling Lawrence's decades-long pursuit of pop success through Felt, Denim and his subsequent musical projects. The book went on to win the 2025 Penderyn Music Book Prize and was named a book of the year by numerous music and national publications. A particularly appealing collectible copy for admirers of Felt, Lawrence, British indie and post-punk music, and signed contemporary music biography, considerably more desirable than the commonly available unsigned hardcover. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. Dual signed. This copy is signed directly on the title page by both Will Hodgkinson and Lawrence, Lawrence signing prominently in blue marker and Hodgkinson beneath in black. The original dust jacket retains the red Rough Trade “SIGNED COPY” sticker to the front panel and a partially retained Rough Trade “Books of the Year 2024” retail label to the rear panel. Rough Trade selected Street-Level Superstar as its Book of the Year for 2024. No supplemental bonus chapter or separate Rough Trade promotional booklet is present with this copy, and this copy is therefore not represented as the separately advertised 250-copy Rough Trade special edition.
