An uncommon Signed 1st Edition from the pioneer aviator, famous for his harrowing "wrong-way" flight in which he spent 28 hours alone crossing 3000 miles of ocean flying in a single-motor secondhand plane. Signed and dated by Corrigan without inscription on the half-title page. Blue cloth over boards with stamped decoration to front cover and spine. 221pp. Square tight binding. Clean interior. Slight foxing throughout. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. Pages are clean and unmarked. Mild rubbing and edge wear to binding. Spine has been lightened by the sun. Pictorial, primarily red, white, and blue DJ. Spine toned about half shade darker than covers, light toning and a few creases along top half-inch of DJ. DJ encased in protective brodart sleeve to prevent further damage. No lettering or illustration rendered illegible. Title page dated 1938. Copyright page dated only 1938, stated first edition. 221 pages. Features black and white photographs throughout text. First and last few pages lightly toned, otherwise clean and bright. Former owner's name written neatly at top left of front attached endpaper. Front free endpaper signed by Douglas Corrigan, dated 1-18-39.
