Eakin Press, Austin, TX. 2000. Hardcover. Stated First Edition. Inscribed by the author as L.C. on the FFFP. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good +; light bumping to head, tail, and tips. DJ: Very Good +; light edge bumping and rubbing to panels. Orange cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine. 271 pp 8vo. This book is a gold mine for anyone who does public speaking and for those who never go near a lectern. The book's name is predictive of its content and stems from the author's tried-and-true formula for writing a speech: start with a laugh, put the meat in the middle, and wave the flag at the end. An engaging account of her 50+ years as a political humorist and speech writer. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
