Book is clean, square, well-bound. No internal marks. Dustcover unclipped and tired with chips, edgewear, and a coffee spill to the back cover -- still 95% present. Gannes signature and warm inscription on the flyleaf page to Helene. (Helene Woolf, aka Helene Gannes, was Harry Gannes' 2nd or 3rd wife; she often served as a co-researcher/editorial voice.) Laid in is the original envelope. Gannes discusses his pride in the book (on-the-spot reporting with commentary completed in under a month) and his thoughts about how and why the Spanish Republicans were faring terribly (among other topics.)
