Item description from seller

Offering a scarce signed edition of this foundational songbook of classic social protest and labor anthems, "Songs of Work and Freedom," by Edith Fowke and Joe Glazer. Music arrangements by Kenneth Bray, jacket art by Hope Taylor. Chicago: Roosevelt University (Labor Education Division), 1969, 1st edition. Tan cloth hardcover with black stamped lettering on spine and front, original pictorial dust jacket, size 11x7.5 inches, pp. 208. Compiling about 100 documenting the history of the American labor movement, includes trade union songs, anti-slavery spirituals, and comedic songs about capitalism, complete with historical commentary and piano/guitar arrangements. Features ten original compositions by legendary "Labor's Troubadour" Joe Glazer, who signed this copy on the ffep. Overall condition is Very Good with a Good jacket. The binding is strong and secure, with mild wear to the cover boards. The jacket shows more wear with fading and tattering at the spine ends, a 1.5 inch tear at the head of the spine hinge fold, and a small chip at the top back. (DJ now in protective mylar.) The inner joints and endpapers are clean and uncracked. There is a stain on the side of the text block, else the pages are clean and unmarked, without creases or tears. A nice, uncommon copy! [D2].…
