First edition, first printing, inscribed by the creator on the front free endpaper verso, "Your Pal, Matt Groening, Nov. 17, 2010", below his ink sketch of Bart with a speech bubble reading "It's signed! Signed with a sketch, man!!". Loosely inserted is a photograph of Groening at the book signing, which took place at Barnes & Noble soon after publication on 26 October. The Simpsons first appeared on 19 April 1987 as a series of short films on the Tracey Ullman Show. After three seasons in that format, The Simpsons was developed into a half hour prime-time show which premiered on 17 December 1989. It is now the longest running American sitcom. This publication is the final and by far the most exhaustive of the official episode guide collections that were published. It numbers 1,200 illustrated pages, listing plots, trivia, the voice actors, guest appearances, all the couch gags, every time Homer spoke his catch phrases of "D'oh!" and "Mmm.", and a filmography of "The Itchy & Scratchy Show". Quarto, pp. 1,200.
