Add to basketMcCarthy, Cormac, Signed and inscribed postcard, signed to Ken Hubner in the familiar, Cormac . Postmarked El Paso Texas, May 16 1988. Typical postcard dimensions, 4-1/4 x 6 inches. Postcard in fine condition. . Written to the late Ken Hubner (1936-2020) who was a bookseller and former owner of the Germantown bookstore, Main Street Books. Hubner had sent McCarthy this self addressed postcard in a sort of form format requesting McCarthy sign books. McCarthy responds ignoring the form and including a message to Hubner and including his post script in regard to Josephine Baker who graces the front of this piece. I also think it is rather neat that the stamp used to mail this card is a William Faulkner stamp. I wonder if Hubner put any thought into this or if the stamp was one McCarthy had affixed to it. The Card also notably was written in the time period between Blood Meridian (1985) and All the Pretty Horses (1992) the latter of which would propel McCarthy to commercial success and a National Book Award!! . Correspondence such as this postcard and letters written by McCarthy have become particularly scare. A good majority of them being acquired by institutions and occasionally private collectors. This is a rare find indeed!
