Add to basketInscribed to film producer Cecil B. De Mille, "whose brother William was a warm friend," signed in blue ink "Maude A. Fox / Yucaipa Calif.," below which someone -- presumably De Mille -- has written in pencil "Acknowledged," with the author's mailing address added in pencil, all to the otherwise blank front free endpaper. De Mille's distinctive orange bookplate with black eagle affixed to the facing pastedown. An account of pioneering days, written by a newspaperwoman who was one of the first Anglo settlers in the Yucaipa Valley. De Mille, who started in the silents, made "Samson and Delilah" in 1949, "The Greatest Show on Earth" in 1952, and "The Ten Commandments" in 1956. 132 pp. Reduced from 105 on 3/14/25.
