Here is a rare autographed book by reclusive author Carlos Castaneda, who passed away in 1998. "A Separate Reality" was his second book, which came out in 1971. Here he describes being trained by a Yaqui Native American "Man of Knowledge"—shaman or sorcerer—which included experiences with psychedelic plants, cacti, and mushrooms. The teachings were a unique blend of mystical and New Age that took him to remote regions in Mexico’s deserts and small towns seeking to learn another way of seeing reality. This led to a series of very popular books, but he wanted to maintain his anonymity, so he rarely appeared in public. This book is in very good condition with aging to the pages that has turned them brownish. There’s some foxing spots, mostly inside of the front covers where his autograph is. You can see that in the photo. In the center of the book some sentences are unlined in black or red, mostly in chapters 5 and 10. There’s some chipping along the upper spine of the dust jacket and a three-eighths of an inch tear at the top on the back. The rest you can see in the photos. I’ve put a clear plastic protective sleeve on the dust jacket to keep it in good shape.…
