First Edition (NAP). 'Published in a limited edition of 1000'. Signed and Inscribed by Mr. McClellan on the half-title page. The inscription reads 'For Nick and Shirley: With thanks for a lovely visit. The intervening years simply vanish! As ever, Brian'. As you can see from the photographs, the covers are in very nice condition. There is a light wrinkle at each spine end. The book is very solidly bound, absolutely no issues. The illustrated end papers are quite nice. The pages are all extremely clean. I didn't see any soiling at all. They are also in excellent condition, no creases or dogeared corners. And with the exception of the signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. Finally, there aren't any markings or attachments. The dust jacket is not clipped. As you can see again in the photographs, it is in very nice condition. It has a tiny crease off the top edge of the front next to the spine, and a tiny scrape, also on the front next to the spine around halfway down the cover. The dust jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. Bruce McClellan, was the Head Master of The Lawrenceville School for 27 years, beginning in 1959. During his tenure the school underwent major changes, most notably with a student body that became both coeducational and increasingly diverse. Mr. McClellan was the driving force behind the admission of black students in 1964 and girls in 1987. He was a past president of the Headmasters Association, the American Association of Rhodes Scholars, and secretary of the New Jersey Committee for Selection of Rhodes Scholars.
