Collection of the best work of one of the "minor poets of the seventeenth century.an imitator of Jonson and Donne and an admirer of Spenser, Sidney, and Herbert". Though the editor notes that Daniel's work was not "strikingly original", he still believes it merits a place alongside its better-known peers. Stroup was a professor of English at the University of Kentucky and here provides an introduction and contextualizing notes. He has also SIGNED the book on the free endsheet. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Light wear to book, corners a bit rubbed & bumped; jacket rubbed & smudged, spine creased & heavily spotted, some chipping; crease (a paper flaw) to dedication leaf. Text clean; xxix, blank, 201 pages; b/w plates. Size: Octavo.
