Item description from seller

An exciting story of the people and events that went to make up the vivid history of the first fifty years of the Shire. It tells for the first time of the secret preparations to turn Sutherland into a fortress shire when during the Second World War, Australia was threatened by an invasion from Japan. You can also get a full picture of the thriving Sutherland of the 50s, the shire that made Cook's optimism valid. **The book has tanning and the name of the previous owner at the top of the flyleaf. The jacket has several tape-repaired tears and rubbing all over.**.

Store description

Ron Robertson, along with his late wife Helen established Rons Bookshop in 1998 as a bricks and mortar bookshop. Helen died in 2014 and Ron carried on running the shop alone and joined the ABE family and commenced selling online in June 2017. Ron decided to close the bricks and mortar shop, from the close of business on December 31 2019 and concentrate on the online business from home. Whilst Rons does not specialise in any particular genre the business has an extensive collection of high quality books of all genres in paperback and hardback.
