8vo. First UK editions, first impressions. 1. Original white printed boards with printed acetate jacket attached by a round sticker to the front and back pastedowns, as issued. Promotional band. 2. Original black hardcovers, silvergilt. 3. Original red hardcovers, gilt. Volumes 1 & 2 are signed on their title pages. Volume 3 has a signed sticker loosely inserted. Fine in fine d/ws. The Abhorsen trilogy introduces readers to the Old Kingdom and the important role the Abhorsen plays in keeping the Dead from plaguing the living. Sabriel's father sent her to school in Ancelstierre, south of the Wall that divides that land from the Old Kingdom, so that he could continue his vital work but now he has gone missing and she needs to grow up fast for she might already have inherited his mantle. Signed sets of the UK first editions are very uncommon, especially in this condition.
