1955 FIRST PRINTING of First USA Edition. SIGNED by 1953 team member George Lowe on the title page. George Lowe climbed to the South Col and above, being one of the hardest working climbers on the expedition. He led the carry to the highest camp (27900') on Everest and probably would have reached the summit if he had been given the chance, but Hunt was conservative and concluded the expedition after Tenzing and Hillary returned from the summit. Original black cloth with gilt lettering spine. The book is in near fine condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (other than Lowe's signature), clean, bright pages, no foxing, solid binding. The original dust jacket has tiny loss at very tips corners and spine ends, no tears, usual browning to spine, price-clipped front flap corner. The book measures 219mm tall x 137mm, and has 303 pages, 48 b/w photos, 5 maps, 15 drawings, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
