At 19 she became the youngest woman in the British Empire to earn a commercial pilot?s license, trained by Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith
She flew solo medical and supply missions across the remote Queensland outback, earning the nickname Angel of the Outback.
She founded the Australian Women Pilots? Association in 1950 and remained active in aviation advocacy until her death in 2009.
Western Sydney International Airport was named in her honor. Published by Angus and Robertson, Sydney, 1961.
