The original sketches by Major Light. First Edition, 11 ¼ and inches tall. Scenes include Cefalł, Porta Nuova in Messina, the Bay of Palermo from Porta Felice, Girgenti, the Port of Messina from Castel Guelfonio , Catania from the west, Alicata, Palermo from Bagheria, Ancient road to Syracuse and many more. The only plate that doesn t match the contents description or the narrative that follows is the Street of Quattro Fontane, Messina the plate says The Church of St Iacomo A Convent of White Friars as called for. New binding in lovely dark half calf with marbled boards. A scarce first edition with 61 lovely engravings of a beautiful region of Italy. Approximately 11 ¼inches tall.
