[Cat. 2020] 840411 sw. This was printed in a very limited edition for members of the Laval River Salmon Club, located on the North Shore of the St. Laurence in Quebec. This book describes a salmon fishing trip to the Laval River in June 9-25, 1926. The river was only reachable by boat at that time. I met the former Secretary of the Laval River Salmon Club, Bill Marsh, while working on my MS degree at the San Francisco Fly Fishing Club on the Truckee River California in 1958 and 1959. He is mentioned in the book. Bill told me many stories about fishing on the Laval River in the 1920 s and 1930 s for very large Atlantic salmon. His best fish was 37 lb. but other members had taken fish well over 40 lb. The book describes landing about 20 salmon from 16 1/2 lb. to 27 lb. When I drove from California to Quebec to fish the Moisie River in 1992, I asked my friend Gary Anderson of Montreal, who has written several books on Atlantic salmon, about the Laval River, He said the river still produced big salmon, but the numbers were very low. I looked at the river during my July Moisie trip, but the water was very low, and I could find anyone at the ZEC. Bill Marsh had told me about a book written about the Laval River Salmon Club, but that it was very scarce. I still felt privileged to see the river and to finally read the book. Bruns S-85; Woods 120; Thatcher p, 455. Very Good-Near Fine. $1725. Seller Inventory # 840411.
