Exceptionally clean copy of this well-illustrated history of the days leading up to the surrender at Yorktown. Includes chapters on Washington, Lexington and Concord, The Siege of Boston, New York, Trenton and Princeton, Philadelphia, Valley Forge, Morristown, West Point and The Campaigns in the Carolinas, as well as Yorktown. The clipped signature of Admiral Hood on the front free endpaper is attached to a typed note about Hood - "First Viscount and Baron Bridport 1726-1814, The great Naval Commander, who lived near Thomas Meade in Co Somerset. See pages 184-185". Tan cloth lettered in gilt, 214 pages, printed dustjacket. Book looks and feels unread, with no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and is in similar as new condition. Tipped in autograph of Admiral Alexander Hood. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
