large 4to, 75 numbered pages, followed by three (3) finely detailed maps of the area in question. FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING. SIGNED. Bound in dark brown cloth, gilt embossed title on front cover; title may have been printed on spine but is no longer visible. Condition: volume is worn at all corners, especially top of spine and top corners. Binding is square, and hinges are sound, except the first stitch from the top of the rear hinge. Also one plate: (facing page 26), titled "Loose Ice in Godhaven Harbor, Disco," is itself loose. The fore edge is chipped, and a 2.5" wide dampstain on the bottom corner is obvious. The stain is visible from the first fep to page 53. In no place does it exceed a height of .75". Author has SIGNED AND INSCRIBED the second free end paper, and dated what appears to be Feb. 22, 1889.
