Large 8vo. 6.75 x 8.625 in. 497 pp. Original maroon half-leather over teal pebbled cloth, bevelled boards, ruled in gilt, titled in gilt on spine, top edge gilt; elegant floral endpapers. Wide ten-panel folding map at rear, tinted with blue. Inscribed by author Harlow N. Higinbotham, president of the World's Columbian Exposition, to the Cora A. Stone Memorial Library of Montreat, North Carolina in 1914. Very scarce signed. Dybwad & Bliss 221. Near fine. Light rubbing to extremities. Montreat library stamp to preliminary blank, else unmarked. Small one-inch closed tear to folding map. Binding square and tight, text otherwise clean and bright.
