Binding is a glue bound backing with red library tape overlay with clear tape overly on that (this is how the author or the publisher assembled them). 499 pp 8vo. This story is taken from the author's memories being a WWII soldier in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Okinawa. When a dedicated college student elects to forgo another educational deferment, it leads him into a jungle that is nothing akin to the tropical paradise as depicted by Hollywood. He has but a single option; to honor his oath of allegiance to his nation for "the duration of the war, plus". Seemingly trapped in an alien society for which he is ill prepared, destiny deals him a hand he hadn't anticipated and he finds himself assigned to a clandestine mission behind Japanese lines, where he discovers he must undergo a radical attitude adjustment in order to survive. A newfound friend helps him make the changes. A clean very presentable copy.
